A PILGRIMAGE OF PERFUME

UNVEILING THE VIRTUES OF PLANTS

A SHRINE

FOR SACRED FRAGRANCE

‘Medina’

Medina means city in Ancient Arabia it was a center of gathering, trade and pilgrimage the illuminated city where prayers and scent were sacred ritual,

I wanted to capture the essence of a landscape and history rich in natural exotic beauty, skin, poetry, culture and ceremonial fragrance and weave them into products that you can feel emotion from,

Reconnecting the heart and olfaction with the secrets of nature’s perfume,

A flower-to-fragrance journey, from seed to scent, harnessing the powers and medicines of our natural world in meticulously handcrafted organic skin products, formulated with intention in upholding ecological values which are kind to our skin and the planet,

Respecting ethical harvest of botanicals with an awareness and appreciation of the land in which it grows,

In-house tincturing of botanicals and distilling of hydrosol, floral water, and precious essences,

Unveiling the virtues of plants.

Illuminating the luxury of ecological cosmetic and fragrance making practices,

Eliminating the need for using anything that is not naturally earth derived,

With a passion for slow process,

Every bottle is hand blended and poured by my own hands,

Made on site, in a spirit of service with a love that is imbued through the hands that create,

The Destiny of a name

Medina Morin

Creator

The Beginning

Born into a Baháʼí family and having been given the name Medina at Birth, from (the Mecca and Medina) of Saudi Arabia, which would later ignite my curiosity and have me draw inspiration from the mystical, ancient, sacred, and holy lands of the Far East.

Ever since I can remember, I have had a love affair with my sense of smell, paired with a wild and vivid imagination. A love and lust for adventure, colors, food, culture, poetry, literature and sensory experiences has naturally led me on this journey of creating scent.

A LEGACY OF BEAUTY

Olfaction Memories of my mother  and stories passed down about my Grandmother are laced and entwined with fragrance beauty and cosmetics,

My Grandmother was an actress, song writer, musician in a folk band, and also a Tudor Cosmetics Beauty Consultant educated in the Art of Beauty Culture and bringing elegance into ladies lounges throughout the 60s/70s

Long before the first Medina products were formulated and made into existence the foundations were already naturally woven into the fabric of my future

My mother has always been a believer in a natural way of life so growing up with alternative medicine, natural skincare, natural foods and natural perfume was already deeply ingrained

Being a child of the 80s I was always encouraged to go outside and use my imagination and luckily my dad was an avid garden lover so there were always pretty flowers and fruit trees and beautiful scenic areas to get lost into dreamland which would set scenes for magical potion making and pretend makeup like crushed rose petal blush and lipstick from the pollen stamen of the lily

Early olfaction scent recollections ....

My grandfather's cigarettes burning in the ashtray, permeating throughout the house, commingling with whiskey, stale cologne, and polished wood on the armrests of the worn golden velvet wicker furniture.

A Christmas gift of Maja Perfume and matching soaps I can still smell how special it was.

90s hippy shops as a teenager with spiritual sky perfumes, African violets incense and queen of the night love oils.

Further along my life path and 20 years since falling for my first intriguing scent in the discovery of Paloma Picasso, fresh out of Beauty School performing a treatment on a client I was carried away by the mysterious aroma

Fast forward to adulthood and motherhood and life’s experiences

20 years involvement in the beauty industry, after achieving a diploma in beauty therapy and international diploma in skin specialist, I branched out of the conventional practices of the beauty industry and began to forge my own path, taking a more holistic approach to life and creative process by challenging the 'popular' opinion of beauty standards. Being led by my intuition and values, living in alignment with my spiritual life and beliefs, has opened the way for me to follow my hearts journey

With an allure for travel and cultural experiences, a passion for exotic places, food, foreign language, ingredients, and an obsession for sourcing rare and fragrant oils, I went on to make a line of professional skincare products from an industry-standard viewpoint, which are exclusively used in the facial treatments on offer at The Perfumery's Beauty Boudoir, which is adjacent to the store with treatments available by appointment throughout the week and also available in store

The perfumery naturally evolved alongside the skincare over many years of research, experimentation, inspiration, and development.

Fast forward 15 years from creating my first skincare product, you will find an extensive boutique collection of ecologically luxurious fragrances that have evolved over time and lived experience.
